Great Granthams

A few visits later and finally writing a blog post about Granthams on Aungier Street. First walked by it around the beginning of February and the window full of sweet treats was so inviting we had to stop. Didn't go in because had already eaten.

Visited a week or two later. Had an Americano and a delicious apple twist.



Sean tried the lemon and pistachio cake.



Bought some Dark Arts Coffee for the machine at home. They always check if we need the beans ground.

Second visit (a week later!) I tried the tuna melt. Toasted sourdough goodness :)









Third visit I had an apple twist and an Americano. BTW how huge are they?





We got the window seat on that visit. A lovely spot to sit and people watch if you can get it.


Was back there this morning (April) with Sean and his parents. They had tea and the grilled cheese. They seemed to greatly enjoy it. Sean had the lemon and pistachio cake again.

I had an americano and a black pudding toastie. Black pudding, cheese and apple chutney on toasted sourdough. Damn good sammich!






The guys are always v nice and there's a lovely chilled atmosphere.

I do quite like the nod to Downton Abbey with the wifi password.



Dublin's "Lord Granthams" of coffee? Perhaps. Its bloody good anyhow.

One last thing... It's dog friendly!!!

Where bread is king

We visited Firehouse Bakery in Delgany on a glorious Saturday in March!

Incredible selection of bread, pastries and treats.

They serve breakfasts too which sound amazing but didn't try anything off the breakfast menu on our first visit. 

So much to choose from but I spent a lot of time distracted by their oven before I chose!!

I went for an Americano and brioche with butter and jam. It was so fresh. Whatever the jam was, it was delicious.

Also had a doughnut (This is the home of those amazing Revolution bakery doughnuts you can find in Avoca, 3FE & Bear Market Coffee to name a few!!) I chose salted caramel and honeycomb. I love their doughnuts. They're super fresh and absolutely stuffed with fillings that ooze out on your first bite - amazing!

This place is most definitely a carb lovers heaven! Will be back v soon :)

Sunny Sunday

Gorgeous Spring day today so we headed into town to pick up some coffee beans.

Parked at Drury Street car park. Returned to Sasha House Petite for coffee and a pastry so Sean could try it out. I had a cinnamon swirl and an americano. He chose an apple and berry crumble tart. He enjoyed his tart but didn't agree with me about the coffee. It's a shame. I still think they do the nicest coffee! 

From there we went to Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer Street to get new coffee beans. This time we chose 3FE Costa Rica Farami De Dota: Red Honey Red Catuai

After a little walk in the sunshine (everyone seemed so happy - amazing what a little sunshine can do!) we ended up at Murphy's ice-cream on Wicklow Street. 

I got a small tub of caramelised brown bread and Sean chose rum and raisin. They have a great choice of flavours and have a little seating area at the back for you to "eat in"

It's a stones throw from Grafton St and well worth a quick visit!

The best coffee in Dublin??

Fiancé went to get his hair cut this morning so I went for a wander to put in the time... 

I decided on Sasha House Petite on Drury St. According to their twitter bio they are the biggest little Franco-Slavic patisserie in all of Dublin town.. 

This is a v small spot and you could v easily walk straight by it and not give it much thought. I'm afraid if you do you'll be totally missing out!!! 

They do a great selection of coffee. I noticed their breakfast menu includes porridge and French toast but I got distracted as my eyes were drawn to the impressive patisserie displays... 

 I said to the barista I found it hard to choose just one to eat with my Americano (the beans were from a farm in Brazil and this is the only place in Dublin you can try them)

The croissants were just out of the oven but I eventually went for a turnover (I think it was raisin, apple and cinnamon) 

I sat down on a coffee sack covered seat. Out of the corner of my eye from my seat I could see fresh pastries being made. 

The barista brought over my coffee and turnover. The turnover was still warm. When I bit into it the fruit was juicy and the pastry was just perfect. 

I realise this sounds totally gushy but honestly this has to be the nicest coffee place I've been to. 

They're also a micro roasters and sell beans. I didn't buy any this morning but it means I have another excuse to go back with Sean so it's not just because I want to try more of their cakes / pastries!!!
