Another Christmas market has been set up here at the back of St Vitus Cathedral.
Had a wander around before strolling back down to Charles Bridge / Karluv Most.
Love the view of the castle from the bridge!!
Walked back through Old Town Square...
We then headed to Palladium shopping centre. Last time I was here it as under construction!!! Very nice as shopping centre goes.
We had cake and coffee at Uno Mediterranean restaurant. I chose tiramisu and an espresso lungo. The tiramisu was lovely and light and you got a decent slice!
After there we went to the cafe at Obenci Dum (municipal house) for a drink. I chose a Kir Royale.
Beautiful setting to have a drink in.
The dessert trolley going around was making me hungry even after having Tiramisu but I managed not to give in :)
Back to our hotel to shower and change before heading out for the night.
First port of call was the Pivovar Narodni - just up from the National Theatre. They brew their own beer. Sean informed me it was v good beer but I had two glasses of red wine. Massive glasses for less than €2 - how is that wrong?!
We then walked to Hemingway Bar. A cocktail bar that has a set of rules which include using indoor voices!!!! We managed to get a table for two upstairs in the non-smoking area. Had a lovely view of their champagne fridges!!!
Here's the cocktail menu:
They had a pretty decent drinks book too.
I chose the Blueberry and Blackcurrant Caipiroska. Sooo good and far too easy to drink!
Sean chose the Jamaican Punch.
Such a nice vibe here. Could have easily stayed there all night but we had dinner plans so we headed off to U Modre Kachnicky II.
Ate here around 12 years ago and could never find it again - no idea why!!!
I liked the look of their seasonal advent menu but we ordered from their regular menu.
Started off with some bubbly.
I ordered duck foie gras terrine served with an apple sauce to begin.
Sean had the starters degustation (veal pate, sheep cheese in garlic oil and duck rillette)
For my main I chose roast duck served with pear, ginger and shallot sauce. It came with mashed potato but they substituted that with crackling dumplings instead. The meat just fell away from the bone. So tender. Absolutely melt in the mouth. I loved the crackling bread dumplings too. Quite a heavy main but soooo delish!
Sean chose the lamb shank. That was extremely tender.
We chose Czech red wine.
Dessert for me was their dessert variation. It was a trio of carrot cake, apple strudel with a punch sauce and a fab chocolate cake that was so light.
Sean went for the pear and gingerbread strudel from the seasonal menu.
We asked for dessert wine and the server recommended a Czech iced wine. Went so so well with dessert.
This typewriter was on the way to the bathroom...
After here we finished off the evening with a visit to U Fleku - a beer hall / microbrewery that has been around since 1499!!! The servers go around with trays of creamy beer or herbal liqueur (generally Becherovka)
It's quite impressive watching them with the trays on their shoulder! You just flag them down when you're ready for more.
Jammed full of tourists. We shared a table with a couple from Bavaria.
These beer glass lights...
Nice night stroll back to the hotel to walk dinner off :)
